CD REVIEW: The Best Disco Album In The World... Ever!
BY: Various Artists
PUBLISHER: Virgin Music
Disco was the BIG sound in the late 1970s and the early 80s, and is still
played a lot at the moment. Because... disco is back! GASP! Yep, disco
music is coming back into fashion, with a lot of the big clubs having
special disco nights, and a lot of places on the continent currently playing
it.
This CD is a double CD, containing 44 classic disco tracks. SLIGHLTY, ever
so slightly mixed, only the last 1 second of each song goes into the next
one, which makes it good to leave on continuous play, but not impossible to
just listen to one track.
As it is THE BEST disco album in... etc. Then the best of disco has been
selected for this album, classics such as:
I FEEL LOVE - Donna Summer
FUNKY TOWN - Lipps Inc.
BOOGIE WONDERLAND - Earth Wind & Fire FEAT. The Emotions
UPSIDE DOWN - Diana Ross
LE FREAK - Chic
YOUNG HEARTS RUN FREE - Candi Staton
HE'S THE GREATEST DANCER - Sister Sledge
GET DOWN TONIGHT - KC And The Sunshine Band
LADY MARMALADE - Labelle
WORKING MY WAY BACK TO YOU - Detroit Spinners
MORE THAN A WOMAN - Tavares
BOOGIE NIGHTS - Heatwave
ROCK YOUR BABY - George McCrae
One song that has been VERY under-rated is "Let's Groove" by Earth Wind &
Fire, and it's hardly ever featured on any albums, but probably because it
was released when disco was right at it's end (1981), and sadly it's not on
this album, even though it is one of the best disco tunes ever.
If you like 70s/80s disco (although there is one tune on here from 1995)
then this album is DEFINATELY worth checking out if you don't have the
tracks already. It is definately the best disco album I've ever seen. So
it's worth buying, prices range from £15 to £19, depending on where you go.
